The Creative Space Story
Everybody has a great idea, but how many people follow through?
Creative Space, a unique family enrichment center, is the brainchild of Cheryl Bayer, Jennifer Barrett Bernstein, and Gayle Baigelman; three women who quit their jobs, changed their lives, and saw their dream through to reality.
It all started at a boring childrens' birthday party. Cheryl Bayer, former Sr. VP of Comedy for Fox and Gayle Baigelman, former feature film producer, knew there had to be a more interesting way to keep kids busy than moon bounces and clowns. Lamenting the lack of innovative childrens' parties and programs in LA, the two joined forces with another mom, Jennifer Barrett Bernstein, former Creative Director at Warner Home Video. They met for coffee to commiserate, "We were looking for classes for our kids that just weren't out there," said Barrett Bernstein. An hour and a half (and three iced mochas later), a partnership was formed.

The trio created a business plan, invented new classes and used their Hollywood connections to find talent. Creative Space opened in a cozy New York style loft space in 2001. Shortly thereafter, Creative Space started their famous Summer Camps (link), and it's been expanding ever since. Pretty soon, Creative Space had grown beyond its loft, and the business moved to a larger space on the Westside in 2004 – its current home. Along the way, Cheryl Bayer took sole proprietorship of Creative Space, committed as ever to seeing the original vision or Creative Space grow far beyond its fun-filled walls while staying true to its original mission.
Creative Space is now much more than a unique child enrichment center. Seven days a week, our Westside location is humming with a variety of classes, birthday parties and special events. Plus, Creative Space even brings their distinctive classes to a wide variety of schools throughout Los Angeles. In addition, Creative Space is developing business ventures across the country, bringing its inimitable product to resorts worldwide, and even developing media projects specifically for children.
